Before launching the application for the first time, perform the following steps to properly configure your computer.
1. Insert the INFOPEDIA™ CD into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Double-click the icon named "INFOPEDIA™ Installer."
3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
4. After the installation is complete, you will be prompted to restart your machine.
Once the installation is complete:
A. To run the program, double-click the INFOPEDIA™ icon from the desktop.
B. To see the tour guide, double-click the icon named "INFOPEDIA™ Tour Guide."
C. See the on-line help from within INFOPEDIA™ for more information. If your system is low on memory, you may have to launch the help by double-clicking the INFOPEDIA™ Help icon from the Finder.

Troubleshooting Tips:
I. MEMORY/PERFORMANCE TIPS:
You can improve the performance by copying the INFOPEDIA™ icon to your hard drive and changing the memory allocated (In the Finder, highlight the icon, then choose "Get Info" from the "File" Menu. See your Macintosh documentation for additional information. As shipped, Infopedia has a memory size of 2,500 Kbytes.-increasing it to 4,096 Kbytes should help performance.)
Video Performance Tips - To improve the performance of the videos, increase the disk cache. Under the Apple Menu, select Control Panels, then Memory - and increase the size to 512K.
II. COPYING/PASTING PICTURES & MAPS:
The pictures, maps, in Infopedia are very large and use a lot of memory. When pasting them into another application, the destination program you are pasting the pictures into needs to have enough memory allocated to handle the graphics.
When pasting into CLARISWORKS, for example, you need to allocate a larger memory partition to Clarisworks to accommodate the picture. (As before, you would highlight the Clarisworks icon in the Finder, then choose "Get Info" from the "File" Menu. See your Macintosh documentation for more specific instructions).
III. RUNNING THE TOUR GUIDE & ON-LINE HELP:
If you have enough RAM in your computer, you should be able to access the Tour Guide and the on-line Help from the "Help Icon" within Infopedia.
Alternatively, you can run those functions outside of Infopedia - Quit Infopedia, and double-click on the icon from the Desktop.
IV. OUT OF MEMORY MESSAGES:
You might occasionally get an "out of memory" message. Try restarting Infopedia, or try increasing the memory as in Item I, above. If you don't have enough memory in your system, you might consider turning on Virtual Memory (in the Control Panels under the Apple menu).
If you are having a problem printing a picture, map or text try copying the item into another application and printing from that application.
V. PRINTING PICTURES
When you print an article, the default media item is printed. If you would like to print the other pictures, maps or flags, switch to that media item, copy it to the clipboard and paste it into a word processor.
VI. VIEWING LARGE TABLES
You can view many of the tables completely by selecting the toggle icon, and toggling the browser off the screen. Infopedia is also completely resizable to your window size (so a 21" monitor helps!)
VII. KNOWN BUG
While a video is on the screen and you select PRINT, you will crash if you are using the Laserwriter Driver. In the Chooser, change to the LaserWriter 8 driver to solve this.
